The former Wilton, CT resident passed away Tuesday

Actor, writer, and comedian Charles Grodin, best known for his deadpan humor and for films, Midnight Run, Heartbreak Kid,as the Dad in Beethoven and Broadway shows like Same Time, Next Year passed away at the age of 86 on Tuesday at his home in Wilton, CT. He has had a battle with bone marrow cancer. He’s been out of the spotlight for a while and not very active in Hollywood.

His son, Nicholas told TMZ he died peacefully in his sleep where he was surrounded by his family including his wife Elissa. Sources say it’s unclear when Charles was diagnosed with cancer but his health recently deteriorated. No funeral arrangements have been made at this point.

The family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Charles’ memory. I met him at a live event once at Whippoorwill Hall Theatre in Armonk, NY where he held a live Q&A session there. I remember him as very funny, witty, and entertaining.
